Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney, Jason D. Holdren, announces the recent sentencings of three Gallia County men this past week in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court.
Jeremy Collins, age 38, of Gallipolis, Ohio was sentenced to five years in prison for his convictions of Possession of Heroin, Aggravated Possession of Drugs (Methamphetamine), and Felonious Assault. “As the public may recall, a search warrant was executed on Mr. Collins’ home on March 29, 2017, on Chillicothe Road, Gallipolis, Ohio, where heroin, meth, and scales were recovered,” stated Holdren. Collins had a pending felonious assault charge at the time of his arrest on the drug charges. “I am pleased that we were able to quickly secure convictions on the old and new charges and pleased that Judge Margaret Evans sentenced Mr. Collins to prison for his crimes.”
Bobby Mullins, age 36, of Gallipolis, Ohio was sentenced to seventeen months in prison for his recent probation violations. Mr. Mullins was placed on probation for a prior conviction of theft, whereby he is subject to random drug screening,” Holdren indicated. “Mr. Mullins was given a drug screen where he attempted to tamper with the screen, but was caught by Gallia County Common Pleas Court probation staff. Probation is an opportunity to prove yourself to the Court, the victim, and society. When individuals attempt to cheat the system, they have ruined this opportunity and must be held accountable.”
Jamin Johnson, age 32, of Gallipolis, Ohio was sentenced to twelve months in prison for his recent conviction of Failure to Appear. “Mr. Johnson was under indictment for a separate matter and failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing on March 1, 2017,” added Holdren. “Due to Johnson’s failure to appear and failure to abide by the Court’s orders, my office indicted him on this charge. I am pleased that he was quickly convicted and sentenced on this matter.”
