5 SENTENCED TO PRISON

Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney, Jason D. Holdren, announces the recent sentencings of five individuals by Judge Margaret Evans in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court.

Douglas E. Walker

Douglas E. Walker, age 36, Crown City, Ohio, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for his recent conviction of Weapons Under Disability, a felony of the third degree. “In 2001, Mr. Walker was convicted of Rape and Gross Sexual Imposition and sentenced to prison for 15 years,” stated Holdren. “On June 8, 2017, Gallia County Sheriff’s Deputy, Tylun Campbell, and Adult Parole Authority Officer, Joel Jagers, searched Walker’s home and located multiple firearms. Sexual predators and those on parole are closely monitored in Gallia County and not permitted to possess firearms. In this case, the Defendant was arrested, charged, convicted, and sentenced to prison in approximately one month. I am thankful for the collaborative efforts of these officers in removing a threat from our community.”

Margo K. Smith

Margo K. Smith, age 35, of Bidwell, Ohio was recently sentenced to prison for 11 months for violating the terms of her community control. “In 2015, Ms. Smith was convicted of Possession of Drugs, a felony of the fifth degree, and placed on community control,” stated Holdren. “Earlier this year, Ms. Smith was found to have violated the terms of her community control and was ordered to complete the STAR program, a community based correctional facility that focuses on the rehabilitation of non-violent felony offenders. Ms. Smith failed to successfully complete the program and will now serve the remainder of her sentence in prison. Unfortunately, some offenders do not take advantage of rehabilitation opportunities and a prison sentence is the only remaining alternative for accountability.”

Justin Lambert

Justin Lambert, age 27, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was sentenced to 4 years in prison for his recent conviction of Felonious Assault.

Jeremy Gibson

Jeremy Gibson, age 30, of Vinton, Ohio, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for violating his terms of community control by committing an additional crime of Identity Fraud, a felony of the fifth degree; failing to report regularly to his probation officer; and testing positive for illegal drugs.

Donivan E. Dowell

Donivan E. Dowell, age 35, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was sentenced to 11 months in prison for his recent conviction of Forgery, a felony of the fifth degree.
