Prosecuting Attorney Jason Holdren announces the recent conviction and sentencing of James E. Brace, Jr., age 43, of Gallipolis, Ohio. On August 23, 2017, James E. Brace, Jr., was convicted of Burglary, a felony of the second degree, and sentenced to four years in prison by Judge Margaret Evans. “This burglary, like so many crimes that we see, was committed to support a drug addiction,” stated Holdren. “I urge anyone that may be suffering from addiction to reach out for help before it is too late. We cannot, and will not, tolerate burglaries and other property crimes in our county.”
Prosecutor Holdren commends his office staff and the investigating officers for a swift and thorough investigation in this matter. “I would like to thank Detectives Chris Gruber and Brady Curry of the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office for their excellent investigative work in this case. On February 17, 2017, a burglary was reported on Bulaville Pike in Gallipolis, Ohio, where items were taken from a home. Detectives Gruber and Curry promptly followed up on tips and leads that were provided to the Sheriff’s Office. Within hours, the Defendant was apprehended in a traffic stop where the stolen property was recovered.”
