8 SENT TO PRISON

Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney, Jason D. Holdren, announces the recent sentencings of 8 individuals by Judge Margaret Evans in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court.

Danny R. Durst, age 38, of Patriot, Ohio, was recently convicted of 8 counts of Rape, felonies of the first degree. Durst was sentenced to a mandatory minimum period of 64 years in prison and a maximum period of 68 years in prison. Upon his release from prison, Durst will be under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for a mandatory term of 5 years and will be required to register as a “Tier three Sex Offender.” (According to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections website, Durst is expected to be released in 2088.)

William G. Collins, age 64, of Hartley, Iowa, was recently convicted of Felonious Assault, a felony of the second degree. Collins was sentenced to a minimum period of 5 years in prison and a maximum period of 7.5 years in prison. Upon his release from prison, Collins will be under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for up to 3 years.

Malynda R. Harrison, age 22, of Crown City, Ohio, was recently convicted of Endangering Children causing serious physical harm, a felony of the third degree; and Endangering Children causing serious physical harm, a felony of the second degree. Harrison was sentenced to prison for a minimum period of 8 years and a maximum period of 11 years. Upon her release from prison, Harrison will be under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for up to 3 years.

Timmy F. Champer, age 46, of Crown City, Ohio, was convicted of two counts of Trespass in a Habitation, felonies of the fourth degree. Champer was sentenced to prison for 34 months. Additionally, Champer was on post release control from a prior prison term at the time of these offenses. Therefore, the Court ordered that Champer serve 574 days in prison for the balance of his parole time which will be served in addition to his 34-month sentence.

Toria Nesbitt, age 31, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was recently convicted of Failure to Comply with an Order or Signal of a Peace Officer, a felony of the third degree. Nesbitt was sentenced to prison for 12 months. The Court also imposed a Class 2 license suspension of 3 years.

Crystal R. Crabtree, age 41, of Oak Hill, Ohio, was recently sentenced to prison for 18 months after violating the terms of her community control by unsuccessfully completing sober living treatment and accidentally sending a text message to a staff member that she had “suboxone for sale.” Crabtree was originally placed on community control after being convicted of Failure to Appear, a felony of the fourth degree; and Possession of Drugs, a felony of the fifth degree.

Dustin Deckard, age 43, of Bidwell, Ohio, was recently sentenced to prison for 30 months after violating the terms of his community control. Deckard was originally placed on community control after being convicted of Aggravated Possession of Drugs (Methamphetamine), a felony of the third degree; and Breaking and Entering, a felony of the fifth degree.

Jacqueline N. Kormanik, age 37, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was recently convicted of Theft, a felony of the fifth degree; Forgery, a felony of the fifth degree; two counts of Aggravated Possession of Drugs (Methamphetamine), felonies of the fifth degree; and Aggravated Possession of Drugs (Methamphetamine), a felony of the second degree. Kormanik was sentenced to prison for a minimum period of 4 years and 11 months in prison and a maximum period of 6 years and 11 months in prison. Upon her release from prison, Kormanik will be under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for at least 18 months and up to 3 years.
