GALLIA COUNTY JURY CONVICTS STUTES FOLLOWING ONE DAY TRIAL

Prosecuting Attorney Jason D. Holdren announces that Bretton M. Stutes, age 30, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was convicted by a Gallia County jury yesterday evening. Following a one-day jury trial, a guilty verdict was returned for Violating a Protection Order, a felony of the fifth degree. After deliberating for approximately 40 minutes, a Gallia County jury returned the guilty verdict at 8:35 p.m. Stutes, who is currently serving a prison sentence, faces an additional maximum term of 12 months in prison. The State will be seeking the maximum sentence.

A sentencing date has not been set at this time.

The State of Ohio was represented by Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Isaac Beller and Jeremy Fisher. This matter was investigated by the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office.
