On May 20, 2025, local leaders had the distinguished honor of presenting the plenary session address at the 33rd annual Ohio Attorney General’s Office “Two Days in May” conference.
Two Days in May annually brings together community and court-based advocates, social workers, medical and law enforcement professionals, policy directors, administrators, attorneys, judges and others, providing a unique opportunity for professionals with wide-ranging backgrounds to collaborate and explore one another’s successful programs.
During this session, Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin, Gallia County Prosecutor Jason Holdren and Gallia County Director of Survivor Services Dr. Amy Sisson, Ph.D., LPCC-S presented “From Tragedy to Triumph: A Rural Community’s Resilience in the Face of Unthinkable Crime” to the over 800 attendees from around the State of Ohio.
This keynote address examined how a multidisciplinary team—comprising law enforcement, prosecution, and mental health professionals—can support the recovery of both crime victims and the first responders involved in their cases. Using a tragic childabuse case from Gallia County as a framework, the speakers discussed the process of building a collaborative team that not only aids victims but also provides crucial support to all those impacted by the case.
