Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney, Jason D. Holdren, announces the sentencings of 11 individuals by Judge Margaret Evans in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court:
Matthew A. Athey, age 47, of New Haven, West Virginia, was sentenced to prison for 36 months for violating the terms of his community control. Athey was originally convicted of Tampering with Evidence, a felony of the third degree; and Failure to Appear, a felony of the fourth degree. Athey violated the terms of his community control by testing positive for Methamphetamine while in treatment and ultimately refusing to complete the treatment program and leaving the facility.
Justin P. McCoy, age 34, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was recently convicted of Attempted Assault on a Police Officer, a felony of the fifth degree; and Failure to Comply with Order or Signal of a Police Officer, a felony of the third degree. McCoy was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
Kelli S. Richie-Johnson, age 42, of Durham, North Carolina, was recently convicted of Trafficking in a Fentanyl Related Compound, a felony of the first degree. Richie-Johnson was sentenced to a minimum mandatory prison term of 11 years and a maximum prison term of 16.5 years. Upon her release, Richie-Johnson will be placed on post release control under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for a mandatory term of at least 2 and up to 5 years.
Antwon Richie-Johnson, age 50, of Durham, North Carolina, was recently convicted of Complicity to Trafficking in a Fentanyl Related Compound, a felony of the first degree. Richie-Johnson was sentenced to a minimum mandatory prison term of 7 years and a maximum prison term of 10.5 years. Upon his release, Richie-Johnson will be placed on post release control under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for a mandatory term of at least 2 and up to 5 years.
Scott B. Dray, age 41, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was sentenced to prison for 36 months for violating the terms of his community control. Dray was originally convicted of Domestic Violence, a felony of the third degree. Dray violated the terms of his community control by failing to abide by the terms of a civil protection order.
Gavin D. Berkley, age 24, of Bidwell, Ohio, was convicted of Endangering Children resulting in serious physical harm, a felony of the second degree. Berkley was sentenced to a minimum prison term of 6 years and a maximum prison term of 9 years. Upon his release, Berkley will be placed on post release control under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for a mandatory term of 18 months and up to 3 years.
Dominique D. Garland, age 31, of Jackson, Ohio, was convicted of Vandalism, a felony of the fifth degree. Garland was sentenced to 11 months in prison.
Christopher J. VanMeter, age 39, of Bidwell, Ohio, was convicted of Violating a Protection Order, a felony of the fifth degree; Possession of Cocaine, a felony of the third degree; Possession of a Fentanyl Related Compound, a felony of the fourth degree; and Aggravated Possession of Drugs (Methamphetamine), a felony of the second degree. VanMeter was sentenced to a minimum prison term of 11 years and a maximum prison term of 14.5 years. Upon his release, VanMeter will be placed on post release control under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for a mandatory term of at least 18 months.
Eric L. Cox, age 30, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was convicted of Tampering with Evidence, a felony of the third degree. Cox was sentenced to prison for 24 months.
David G. McQuaid, Jr., age 47, of Rio Grande, Ohio, was convicted of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, a felony of the fourth degree; and Failure to Comply with Order or Signal of a Police Officer, a felony of the fourth degree. McQuaid was sentenced to 36 months in prison.
Sethie A. Wolford, age 36, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was sentenced to prison for 36 months for violating the terms of his community control. Wolford was originally convicted of Receiving Stolen Property, a felony of the fourth degree; and Complicity to Grand Theft, a felony of the fourth degree.
