13 SENTENCED TO PRISON

Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney, Jason D. Holdren, announces the sentencings of 13 individuals by Judge Margaret Evans in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court:

Matthew E. Day, age 23, of Crown City, Ohio, was sentenced to prison for 3 years and 9 nine months for violating the terms of his community control. Day was originally convicted of Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, a felony of the fourth degree; Breaking and Entering, a felony of the fifth degree; and Theft, a felony of the fourth degree. Day violated the terms of his probation by absconding the supervision of his probation officer and failing multiple drug screens.

Joshua D. Burke, age 42, of Bidwell, Ohio, was sentenced to prison for 2 years for violating the terms of his community control. Burke was originally convicted of Felony OVI, a felony of the fourth degree; and Aggravated Possession of Drugs (Methamphetamine), a felony of the fifth degree. Burke violated the terms of his probation by failing to report to his probation officer as ordered; failing numerous screens; and failing to appear in court.

Jamin D. Johnson, age 38, of Crown City, Ohio, was sentenced to prison for 25 months for violating the terms of his community control. Johnson was originally convicted of Failure to Appear, a felony of the fourth degree; and Theft, a felony of the fifth degree. Johnson violated the terms of his probation by failing to successfully complete a Community Based Correctional Facility (CBCF). Johnson was discharged from a CBCF after engaging in a verbal and physical altercation with another resident.

William K. Patterson, II, age 51, of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, was convicted of Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a felony of the third degree; and Failure to Appear, a felony of the fourth degree. Patterson was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison.

James D. Clark, age 38, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was convicted of Sexual Battery, a felony of the third degree. Clark was sentenced to 3 years in prison. Upon his release, Clark will be placed on post release control under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for a mandatory term of 5 years. Further, Clark is classified as a Tier III Sex Offender and shall follow all registration and reporting requirements.

Anthony D. Wroblewski, age 27, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was convicted of Felony Domestic Violence, a felony of the fourth degree. Wroblewski was sentenced to 14 months in prison.

Michael M. Walker, age 32, of Dayton, Ohio, was convicted of Aggravated Possession of Drugs (27.083 grams of Methamphetamine), a felony of the second degree; Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs (27.083 grams of Methamphetamine), a felony of the second degree; and Having Weapons While Under Disability, a felony of the third degree. Walker was sentenced to a mandatory minimum prison term of 7 years and a maximum prison term of 10.5 years. Upon his release, Walker will be placed on post release control under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for a mandatory term of at least 18 months and up to 3 years.

James E. Raines, age 44, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was convicted of 3 counts of Violating a Protection Order, felonies of the fifth degree; and Arson, a felony of the fourth degree. Raines was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison.

Cory A. Caldwell, age 23, of Vinton, Ohio, was convicted of Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs (53.11 grams of Methamphetamine), a felony of the second degree; Trafficking in a Fentanyl Related Compound (6.94 grams), a felony of the third degree; and Trafficking in Cocaine (9.69 grams), a felony of the fourth degree. Caldwell was sentenced to a minimum prison term of 7 years and a maximum prison term of 9 years. Upon his release, Caldwell will be placed on post release control under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for a mandatory term of at least 18 months and up to 3 years.

Clayton Queen, age 59, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was convicted of Failure to Register, a felony of the third degree. Queen was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison.

Charmaine L. Jackson, age 37, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, was convicted of Possession of Heroin (38.7302 grams), a felony of the second degree. Jackson was sentenced to a mandatory minimum prison term of 6 years and a maximum prison term of 8 years. Upon her release, Jackson will be placed on post release control under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for a mandatory term of at least 18 months and up to 3 years.

Paul C. Byus, age 27, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was sentenced to prison for 18 months for violating the terms of his community control. Byus was originally convicted of Possession of a Fentanyl Related Compound (7.94 grams), a felony of the third degree. Byus violated the terms of his probation by failing multiple drug screens, failing to notify the probation department of law enforcement contact and arrest, and failing to report to the probation department as instructed.

Paul E. Body, age 41, of Bidwell, Ohio, was convicted of Failure to Provide Notice of Residence Address Change, a felony of the third degree. Body was sentenced to 2 years in prison. Body’s sentence will be served consecutively with his prison sentence from Jackson County, Ohio.
