MARSHALL, RUPE, AND BAILEY SENT TO PRISON

Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney, Jason D. Holdren, announces the recent sentencings of three individuals by Judge Margaret Evans in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court.

Danjuma L. Marshall, age 37, of Columbus, Ohio, was sentenced to 8 years in prison for his recent conviction of Possession of Cocaine, a felony of the first degree. “On December 31, 2016, Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Matt Atwood conducted a traffic stop of Marshall’s vehicle just off of the US 35 exit ramp, very close to Holzer Health System,” stated Holdren. “Trooper Atwood searched the vehicle after smelling raw marijuana emanating from the vehicle. 83 grams of cocaine, which has a street value of approximately $25,000, was located under the hood of the vehicle between the engine and battery. I am thankful for the persistent efforts of the Trooper in this case which led to the removal of over 800 doses of cocaine from our county.” This traffic stop occurred two months after Marshall was released from prison on prior cocaine convictions.

Aaron M. Rupe, age 23, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for violating the terms of his community control. “Earlier this year, Mr. Rupe was convicted of Trespass in a Habitation, a felony of the fourth degree, and placed on community control with the condition that he must successfully complete drug court,” stated Holdren. “Mr. Rupe violated the terms of his community control by possessing methamphetamine and testing positive for alcohol, amphetamines, and methamphetamines. Mr. Rupe squandered his opportunity on community control by appearing for drug court with crystal methamphetamine in his pocket.”

Randall D. Bailey, age 29, of Bidwell, Ohio, was sentenced to prison for 18 months for his recent convictions of Burglary, Attempted Grand Theft of a Firearm, and Safecracking. Upon his release from prison, Mr. Bailey will be placed on community control for 48 months and required to successfully complete a Community Based Corrections Facility (lock-down drug rehabilitation) and drug court. Mr. Bailey was also ordered to pay restitution to the victim in the amount of $1,000.00.
