Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney Jason Holdren and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jeremy Fisher participated yesterday in Ohio Prosecuting Attorney Association’s Advocacy Day at the Ohio Statehouse. Prosecutors attended the unveiling ceremony of the original Ohio Constitutions of 1802 and 1851, toured the Statehouse and House chamber, and met privately with Ohio House Speaker Ryan Smith about a number of pieces of legislation that will directly impact Gallia County.
“I greatly appreciate Speaker Smith’s willingness to meet with us and the opportunity to discuss a number of issues that face our local law enforcement community,” stated Holdren. Prosecutors discussed pending and future legislation in several areas, including: strangulation in domestic violence situations, enhancing fentanyl possession and trafficking penalties, aggravated vehicular homicide laws, dismemberment legislation, and the need for additional funding for rehabilitation services.
