DAYTON WOMAN SENT TO PRISON 9 YEARS FOR TRAFFICKING IN HEROIN

Prosecuting Attorney Jason Holdren announces that Andraya L. Washington, age 23, of Dayton, Ohio was convicted by a Gallia County jury on May 15, 2017, of Trafficking in Heroin and Possession of Heroin, both felonies of the first degree. Ms. Washington was sentenced today to a prison term of 9 years by Common Pleas Court Judge Margaret Evans.

“On October 14, 2016, Washington was a passenger in a vehicle travelling from Dayton, Ohio to a residence on State Route 7 South in Gallia County,” stated Holdren. “The vehicle was stopped by Trooper Matthew Atwood of the Ohio State Highway Patrol for multiple traffic violations. Ms. Washington and another occupant of the vehicle gave conflicting stories to the Trooper as to why they were in Gallia County. After receiving consent to search the vehicle, almost 100 grams of heroin, with a street value of $30,000.00, was located in the car.”

“I would like to thank Post Commander Lieutenant Barry Call of the Gallipolis Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol for his leadership of our post and providing excellent troopers to serve Gallia County. In this instance, Trooper Atwood successfully protected the citizens of Gallia County by keeping almost 100 grams of heroin out of our neighborhoods and off of our streets,” added Holdren.
