Gallia Countians voted 84% to reject Issue 1. 1,529 votes were cast FOR the issue (16%) and 8,049 votes were cast AGAINST the issue (84%).
Statewide, 36.6% of voters were for Issue 1 and 63.4% of voters were against Issue 1.
With that being said, please know we are working daily to find solutions to the issues we face. I communicate regularly about these issues with our Representative and House Speaker Ryan Smith and State Senator Bob Peterson. Please know that here in Gallia County we are operating two successful drug court programs (Gallipolis Municipal Court with Judge Eric Mulford and Gallia County Common Pleas Court with Judge Margaret Evans) and providing opportunities for addicts to receive treatment. My plan has always been simple – put drug traffickers in prison and provide opportunities for those addicted to find recovery while holding them accountable for their actions.
